“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” -Francis of Assisi
Impossible! It’s a word we are all familiar with and have certainly heard before, right? For those of you that are optimists and consciously make attempts to tackle this thing called ‘life’ with as much positivity as you can possibly exude, ‘impossible’ is a word you totally steer clear away from. By definition, it simply means NOT possible. Even further, it dictates an inability to be done, to exist, or even to occur. The connation it represents carries such a dark, ‘rain on your parade’ cloud. That’s no fun at all, so we avoid the notion of impossibility like the plague!
But, wait. I’m hear to tell you that the word ‘impossible’ is needed just as much as the word ‘possible’ is needed. Why, you ask? The reason is because it creates balance. There is no night without a day. There is no moon without a sun. There is no left without a right. There is no darkness without light. There is no hate without love. There is no failure without success… I think you’re catching my drift.
Opposites exist and they are equally necessary to each other’s position. You see, what is deemed ‘impossible’ paves the same path that makes it possible to do what’s necessary… Wait. Let that sink all the way in.
Here’s how I see it. The mere threat of impossibilty unleashes all of the ability, confidence, consistency, courage, determination, empowerment, gumption, inspiration, sacrifice, strategy, tenacity, and will power that fuels the action that makes it possible for you to do anything and everything that’s necessary to get the job done.
Whew! That was a lot! Remember, you are equipped with each and every one of all of the tools necessary to turn whatever is seemingly impossible into your possible and purposeful reality!
