Rich Inspiration: Learning to Let Go

[sharing_buttons]

“We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.”
-Joseph Campbell

There is one simple phrase that we have all heard before – ‘Let Go’. It is such a seemingly simple suggestion, when you hear it. Isn’t it? However, it is such a challenging undertaking. Like me, many of you probably prefer to have some level of control over the happenings involving and surrounding your life. (Or is it only me? Ha-ha!) But wait; there is another word that comes to my mind. Do you want to know what that word is? That word is ‘faith’.

Here’s the thing, though. In order to activate faith, you have to act. Doing so requires complete confidence and complete trust in someone or in something. It is not possible (nor is it recommended) to house the element of faith and the element of fear underneath the same roof. One of them has to go! Agreed? Of course all of this is much easier said than done. Nonetheless, at the end of the day, just ‘let it go’.

I want to leave you all with a personal experience of mine. A few days ago, I was given an invitation to join a ‘pay it forward’ movement. I will tell you; it can be a very, nerve wracking thought to give freely without the guarantee of reciprocity, but, I did it anyway! Let me tell you; once I got over myself and decided to let go, I instantaneously became fearless. I blessed someone else and got such a surge of adrenaline when I did it. Waiting on the other side for me is a more, abundant blessing. I first had to empty my close-fisted hand to have the opportunity to fill both hands.

So here is my question for all of you? What blessing is waiting for you on the other side of your fear? Here is my challenge to you. Drop the fear out of your hand and scoop up as much faith as you can gather with both hands, accepting all that is waiting for you.

Then, pay it forward.
